CLIMATE CHANGE POSTER PROJECT

A climate change poster commission to provoke public dialogue on the climate crisis. The work was distributed as hundreds of street posters that were distributed across Melbourne and exhibited at Testing Grounds during the ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE 2019 Festival.

The poster text echoes the infamous Sex Pistols song and the text ‘No Future: Queer Theory and the Death Drive’ by Lee Edelman. ‘No Future’ proposes queerness as a willingness to embrace a refusal of the social and political order, in particular reproduction.

The ‘no future’ slogan is paired with a reference to recent extreme climate change and weather events like the Northern Murray-Darling Basin ‘fish kill’ incidents.
